Meet Melissa LaShure
Melissa LaShure brings nearly two decades of educational expertise to every episode. Since beginning her career in education in 2008, she has experienced the field from multiple perspectives, giving her a unique understanding of the challenges and opportunities within our educational system.
Her journey began in the classroom, where she taught in general education, special education, and served as the building ELL (English Language Learner) teacher. This diverse teaching experience provided her with firsthand knowledge of how educational policies and practices impact students with varying needs and backgrounds.
In the second part of her career, Melissa transitioned to educational leadership as Director of Curriculum and Assessment. This role expanded her perspective beyond the classroom, allowing her to see the bigger picture of how curriculum decisions, assessment practices, and educational policies affect entire school systems.
Throughout her career, Melissa has maintained an unwavering passion for advocating for students, staff, and parents. She believes that quality education is a collaborative effort that requires informed participation from all stakeholders. This belief led her to create the Educational Awareness podcast as a platform to keep the educational community informed and empowered.
